BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUPS
To register for these free groups, call Linda Clark or Patty Shenberger at 735-6484 or 1-800-317-5661. All groups meet at the Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Office at 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, except when otherwise noted.
WHAT ABOUT ME? An art therapy group for children ages 5-12 years old whose loved one has died. Starts Monday, March 30, 2009 and meets from 4:15-5:45 p.m. for (7) seven Mondays in a row.
WHAT ABOUT ME? A monthly art therapy group for children ages 5-12 years old whose loved one has died. Meets the third Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:45 p.m.
TEENS GRIEVE, TOO For teenagers ages 13-18 years old whose loved one has died. Starts Tuesday, March 31, 2009 and meets from 4:15-5:45 p.m. for five (5) Tuesdays in a row.
"W.A.M. CAMP" (WHAT ABOUT ME?) A free day "camp" for bereaved children 5-12 years old. Meets Friday, July 17, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Sherrillbrook Park, New Hartford.
CHILDREN'S COMMUNITY-WIDE REMEMBRANCE SERVICE: A CELEBRATION OF LIFE For any child who has experienced the death of a loved one. Children can share stories, read a poem, sing or play musical instruments in memory of their loved ones. Face painting, arts & crafts and a picnic will follow the service.Meets Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Edward A. Hanna Recreation Center, 220 Memorial Parkway (near the Utica Zoo).
ADULT PARENTAL LOSS For any adult who has experienced the death of a parent. Starts Monday, March 16, 2009 and meets from 7:00-8:30 p.m. for six (6) Mondays in a row.
MOTHER LOSS WORKSHOP for any adult child who has experienced the death of their mother and want to honor and celebrate her with the upcoming Mother's Day. Meets Monday, May 4, 2009 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
FATHER LOSS WORKSHOP for any adult child who has experienced the death of their father and want to honor and celebrate him with the upcoming Father's Day. Meets Monday, June 15, 2009 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
PASSAGES For any adult who has experienced a death of a loved one. Starts Wednesday, April 29, for six (6) Wednesdays in a row from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
MEMORY MAKERS A scrapbooking group for any adult who has experienced the death of a loved one. This will be a wonderful way to create a lasting memory of your loved one. Starts Monday, May 11, for 6 Mondays in a row from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
JOURNEY TOGETHER A group that provides social activities for the bereaved. Call Paul Kempkes at 724-3531 for further information and for a list of activities.
ROME PASSAGES For any bereaved adult who has experienced the death of a loved one.Starts Monday, April 6, 2009, and meets for six(6) Mondays in a row from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Meets at Bethany Gardens, 800 West Chestnut Street, Rome.
HOSPICE WALKERS Meets at Sangertown Square Mall in front of Macy's. For any adult who has experienced a death. HERKIMER COUNTY WALKERS For any adult who has experienced a loss. Meets every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Herkimer County Community College Physical Education Building at the Inside Track on Reservoir Road, Herkimer. Contact Dorothy Suits at 866-3069.
WATERVILLE PASSAGES For any bereaved adult who has experienced the death of a loved one. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. at the Waterville Public Library Program Room, 206 White Street, Waterville.
COMMUNITY-WIDE REMEMBRANCE SERVICES: A CELEBRATION OF LIFE This is an uplifting, non-denominational service for the entire family. A grief workshop will be available for children and adults during the reception. These services are conducted in the first two weeks of November in Oneida, Herkimer and Eastern Madison Counties. Call for November 2009 dates and locations.
COPING WITH GRIEF For any adult who has experienced the death of a loved one. Meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 2:00-3:30 p.m. First session starts Tuesday, March 24, 2009.
